Wascana Centre has a wealth of animals that call this place home. Every year Wascana Ecologist conduction biodiversity surveys along the shores of Wascana Centre. They record species, age, location, and other details to help better understand who lives in our park. In 2024 they recorded over 5500 different birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and aquatic bugs. In total they found 2 species of amphibians and reptiles, 4 species of mammals, 10 species of shorebirds, 22 species of waterfowl and waterbirds, 3 species of birds of prey, 68 species of songbirds, and 11 aquatic species were identified. Over the years ecologists have identified 276 species of birds, 36 species of mammals, 6 species of fish, 4 species of amphibians, 2 species of reptiles, 300 species of trees and shrubs, 100 species of annuals, and 100 species of perennials.
